The Oyo State Government has imposed a 10-hour curfew across Oriire and Olorunsogo Local Government Areas, as well as some affected communities within the Ogbomoso zone, in response to rising security concerns and recent incidents of kidnapping in the area.

According to the directive, the curfew will be in force daily from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., restricting movement within the affected local governments and adjoining communities during the specified hours.
The decision follows the abduction of students, teachers, and other residents in parts of the zone, incidents that have generated widespread concern among residents and prompted calls for stronger security measures.
Governor Seyi Makinde stated that the temporary restriction became necessary following consultations with security agencies and intelligence reports indicating the need for intensified operations to flush out criminal elements operating within the affected areas.
The governor assured residents that the curfew is part of broader efforts aimed at restoring peace, enhancing surveillance, and supporting ongoing rescue and security operations. He emphasized that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration.
Security agencies have been directed to ensure strict enforcement of the curfew while carrying out coordinated operations targeted at kidnappers and other criminal groups threatening public safety.
The government also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel by providing useful information that could aid ongoing investigations and security efforts.
While acknowledging the temporary inconvenience the measure may cause, authorities maintained that the curfew is necessary to safeguard communities and prevent further security breaches.
Residents have expressed hope that the restriction, coupled with intensified security operations, will help restore normalcy and bring an end to the recent wave of criminal activities in the affected areas.
