Oyebanji Secures Landslide Victory as APC Dominates Ekiti Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, winner of the Ekiti State governorship election following a commanding performance at the polls.

According to the results announced by the electoral umpire, Oyebanji polled a total of 319,224 votes, defeating his closest rivals by a significant margin and reaffirming the APC’s dominance in the state.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate secured 40,543 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate garnered 12,872 votes, leaving a wide gap between the APC and other contenders in the race.

The outcome reflects a strong endorsement of the APC’s political structure and grassroots mobilization efforts across the state, as the party recorded victories in a majority of local government areas.

Political analysts have attributed the overwhelming victory to effective campaign strategies, party unity, and widespread voter confidence in the APC’s agenda for the state.

Following the declaration, celebrations erupted among APC supporters, who described the result as a validation of the party’s developmental policies and commitment to good governance.

In his acceptance remarks, Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the people of Ekiti State for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to run an inclusive administration focused on development, economic growth, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and improved welfare for residents.

Meanwhile, INEC commended voters, security agencies, election officials, and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process.

The governorship election is being regarded as one of the most decisive victories recorded in recent political history in Ekiti State, with the APC candidate securing more votes than all major opposition parties combined.

With the election concluded, attention is expected to shift toward governance and the implementation of campaign promises aimed at advancing the development of Ekiti State and improving the lives of its citizens.
