The Accord Party has reaffirmed Chief Adebayo Busari (Gudugudu) as its governorship candidate for the 2027 Oyo State election, dismissing speculations suggesting that popular broadcaster Oriyomi Hamzat could emerge as the party’s flagbearer.
The reaffirmation was made during the party’s Strategic Meeting, which brought together the leadership of the Accord Party in Oyo State and at the national level.
The meeting was attended by the Oyo State Chairman of the party, the State Secretary, the National Secretary of Accord Party, and Chief Adebayo Busari (Gudugudu), alongside other key stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, party leaders unanimously reaffirmed their confidence in Busari, describing him as the party’s authentic and duly recognised governorship candidate for the 2027 election. They stressed that the meeting was convened to strengthen the party’s structure, foster unity among members, and reaffirm its commitment to its chosen candidate.
The leadership dismissed reports linking Oriyomi Hamzat with the Accord governorship ticket, insisting that no such decision had been taken by the party and that Busari’s candidature remains unchanged.
According to party officials, Chief Busari emerged through the party’s internal processes and continues to enjoy the confidence and support of the party leadership and stakeholders across Oyo State.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Adebayo Busari (Gudugudu) appreciated the leadership and members of the party for the renewed vote of confidence reposed in him. He pledged to continue consultations with stakeholders, mobilise support across the state, and provide purposeful leadership capable of delivering good governance to the people of Oyo State.
The strategic meeting also resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation, strengthen party structures across all local government areas, and position the Accord Party as a formidable force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The reaffirmation is expected to put to rest speculations surrounding the party’s governorship ticket as political activities continue to gather momentum in Oyo State.
