President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy, promoting economic recovery, and improving the welfare of citizens as the nation marks another Democracy Day celebration.

In his Democracy Day address, the President paid tribute to the heroes of Nigeria’s democratic struggle, acknowledging the sacrifices of individuals and groups who fought tirelessly for the restoration and sustenance of democratic governance in the country.
Tinubu noted that Democracy Day serves as a reminder of the resilience of the Nigerian people and the importance of safeguarding democratic institutions, the rule of law, and constitutional governance.
Addressing the nation’s economic challenges, the President stated that his administration remains focused on implementing reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, attracting investment, creating jobs, and improving living standards. He acknowledged the difficulties being experienced by many Nigerians but expressed confidence that ongoing reforms would yield long-term benefits.
The President also highlighted progress recorded in critical sectors, including infrastructure development, agriculture, energy, education, healthcare, and digital innovation. He assured citizens that government programmes are being designed to foster inclusive growth and ensure that the benefits of development reach all parts of the country.
On security, Tinubu reiterated his administration’s determination to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities threatening national peace and stability. He commended the efforts of security agencies and pledged continued support for measures aimed at protecting lives and property.
The President further called on political leaders, civil society groups, the private sector, and citizens to work together in building a more united, prosperous, and democratic nation. He stressed that national development requires collective responsibility and active participation from all stakeholders.
Tinubu also urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and patriotic despite prevailing challenges, emphasizing that the country’s democratic journey continues to evolve and that brighter days lie ahead.
As the nation commemorates Democracy Day, the President renewed his pledge to uphold democratic principles, strengthen institutions, and deliver on the mandate entrusted to his administration by the Nigerian people.
