The Bimbo Adekanmbi Diaspora Alliance (BADA) has expressed deep sympathy with traders and business owners at Oranyan Market following the devastating fire incident that destroyed properties and goods belonging to members of the trading community. The organisation described the incident as a painful setback for families whose livelihoods depend on their businesses and called for immediate support for those affected.
BADA urged individuals, government agencies, community leaders, corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to rally around the affected traders without attaching political considerations to the assistance. According to the organisation, “this is not the time for politics; it is a time for humanity, compassion and solidarity.” BADA stressed that helping people who have suffered such losses should be seen as a collective responsibility.
The organisation also expressed confidence in the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the Oyo State Government as a merciful and compassionate government that would listen to the plight of the affected traders and take appropriate steps within its capacity to support them. BADA appealed to the government to consider the circumstances of the victims and provide whatever relief or intervention may be possible.
While commiserating with the affected families, BADA also advised traders and business owners to take necessary precautions to prevent future disasters. The organisation encouraged strict attention to electrical connections, proper storage of combustible materials, availability of fire extinguishers and adherence to safety regulations, stressing that prevention remains essential in protecting lives, properties and livelihoods.
