The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, giving thousands of Nigerian students access to their examination results. The results were announced on Thursday, September 24, 2026, by NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
A total of 1,378,048 candidates registered for the 2026 examination, while 1,371,992 candidates eventually sat for the examination. Of those who sat for it, 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. Another 1,162,118 candidates, representing 84.70 per cent, obtained at least five credits irrespective of their results in English Language and Mathematics.
The examination was conducted between June 15 and July 23, 2026, across Nigeria and in six foreign countries. NECO also reported a significant decline in examination malpractice compared with the previous year.
How to Check Your 2026 NECO Result
Candidates can check their results online by following these steps:
- Visit the official NECO Results Portal at
results.neco.gov.ng. - Select 2026 as the examination year.
- Select the appropriate examination type, such as SSCE Internal.
- Enter your NECO Result Checking Token.
- Enter your registration number.
- Click on “Check my result” to view your result.
Candidates who do not have a result-checking token can purchase one through the official NECO results portal.
If a result does not immediately appear, candidates should confirm that they selected the correct examination year and type and entered their registration number and token correctly. They should also ensure they have a stable internet connection before trying again.
NECO has advised candidates to use the official result-checking portal and avoid giving their examination details to unverified individuals or websites.
The release of the results is expected to be particularly important for candidates seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions, as they can now proceed with processes requiring their SSCE results.
